We have purchased another property in Calahonda and were a little more aware of how, what etc - speed of purchase? Faster and easier than UK!

Breifly, we purchased and used the apartment as often as we could - especially my wife and her friends!!

Interspersed with this, we rented it out and we used this website to assist with this. Quite frankly, bookings became so fluent that I didn’t update the site as often as I should. We have had bookings and re-bookings and well, in the end, this site just served to provide a bit of extra information for our freinds/recommendations who had access to the internet. In saying that, do please read what the site says because it’s an excellent description of what you will be purchasing, both in the property and the locality

What I have always said to people is that its just minutes away from Marbella but not at Marbella prices!

Its minutes away from Fuengirola - which can get quite busy - So if and when you want the high prices or the great activity then its on your doorstep - but you always come back to Calahonda to do your own thing!

Fuengirola

Fuengirola is probably most famous for its five miles of sandy beaches, with high-rise hotels and apartments offering magnificent views of the Mediterranean and the coastline. With a new wider promenade with plenty of palm trees interspersed with colourful flower bed’s and bench seating, Fuengirola sea front is a favourite place for tourists and local families alike. The beaches along Fuengirola, Los Boliches - Gaviotas and Torreblanca hold a European blue flag. Over the years with these and other developments it has replaced Torremolinos and is now probably the most popular toursit resort on the Costa del Sol.

There are special areas designated for Windsurfing, beach volleyball and other water sports The Marina is home to some impressive yachts and leisure craft, while not of the same scale as Puerto Banus in Marbella, it is a relaxing stroll were you can enjoy seeing the fishing boats going out to sea.

Fuengirola is particularly popular with tourists with a wide variety of entertainment and restaurants to choose from. Andalucian traditional tapas (snacks bars) to local fish restaurants to the British Fry-up's all make Fuengirola a popular choice for going out to eat. There is no shortage of things to do for holidaymakers in Fuengirola, ranging from such family fun activities as the Aqua Park, a trip to the zoo, a ride around town on "the little train" or on a horse-drawn carriage, right through to a host of water sports.

The origins of the city date back as far as the Phoenicians who colonised the area. The Romans called the city 'Suel' after a star which can clearly be seen from the castle. In 53 A.D. the town was granted the title of 'Municipality' in the Roman 'Betica' region, which latter became Andalusia. The Roman thermal baths at nearby Torreblanca and the ruins of the ancient Roman highway bear witness to the importance the town acquired during the period. In fact the marble in the monument in 'Plaza de Castilla' in Los Boliches was taken from the remains of the ancient Roman highway. During the Eighteenth Century the area was conquered by the Moors who renamed the town 'Sojayl' (the likely root of the modern name for the castle - 'Sohail'). The City was finally re-conquered by the Catholic

The castle has become the towns symbol, situated outside the town on a hill it commands an impressive view over Fuengirola and the sea. The castle is most likely of Roman origin although it was restored in the Tenth Century by Abderrajman III under the Moorish reign of Andalusia.

Tuesday is market day (El Mercadillo), open in the morning, it is the biggest outdoor market on the coast and attracts visitors from nearby resorts as well as the locals. It is well worth going down to browse at the wide range of wares for sale, from fake designer clothes and watches to more traditional Andalusian produce. There is also a Saturday boot sale here with the usual selection of items on sale. For the locals everyday life continues on in Fuengirola and the fisherman still go out to sea, reminding one of the small fishing village it once was.

Useful Information

This Apartment has been absolutely fantastic for us -

Ideal for 4 but has slept 6. The view over the Med is probably the best in the Costa Del Sol!

Although we are selling we are not deserting Calahonda or the Costa Del Sol, in fact we are in the process of buying a Town House in the Costa Del Sol

To support our apartment, we have rented it out. You can see the

 “going rate”

for this apartment on this site and you can also see the degree to which we have actually taken bookings. Because of the sale we have not taken any bookings past September.

The apartment is wonderful, even though I say it myself - But for sale - is not just the apartment - its the locality to which it is part - its also the locality to Marbella, Puert Banus, Mijas Costa, Fuengirola, Benalmadena and Torremolinas.

2 hours away is Seville
1 hour away is Gibraltar
30 minutes away is Purto Banus
20 minutes away is Marbella
5 minutes away is La Cala
20 Minutes away is Fuengirola
30 minutes away is Benalmadena
35 minutes away is Malaga Airport
So, our apartment in Calahonda is available to you within 35 minutes of hitting the road from the airport

This site shows the attributes of the Costa Del Sol which is what you will be enjoying as part of your purchase

Take some time and check out the site thoroughly so you can appreciate the Costa Del Sol dream

I may have underrated the “golfing” element because the site is a little unfurnished with regards to gold

I have modified this site to reflect the SALE but previously, this site is what I used to advertise the apartment FOR RENT. With sufficient RENTAL, the mortgage can look after itself

Take a look at the HIT COUNTER - bottom left of the Home page, thats how many people have looked at the site in the last 2 years!
